All children in Years 1 to 6 follow the new National Primary Curriculum.
A helpful booklet about the new National Curriculum can be found via this link (Click Here)
The National Curriculum at Key Stages 1 and 2 comprises of:
The curriculum is taught as discrete subjects although links in learning and cross curricular opportunities are developed. Subjects include RE, English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Music, PE, PSHE, MFL (in KS2) Art and Design Technology. Children's learning experiences will also be enhanced through visits and visitors coming into school, relevant to the curriculum area being studied.
In our school we recognise that learning consists of:
• Acquiring knowledge
• Understanding ideas
• Perfecting skills
• Developing good attitudes.
In order for this to take place the children must:
• Become involved with things that interest them
• Be active in their learning
• Be encouraged to work with each other
• Make progress and be challenged in each area of learning
Be encouraged to think and act for themselves and become independent
